Warm-Ups
Prepare players physically and mentally for the demands of training.
About this drill
Warm-ups gradually raise heart rate, mobilise joints, activate stabilising muscles, and rehearse the technical actions your session will demand. A well-designed warm-up reduces injury risk and primes decision-making for the work that follows.
Key points
- Start with low-intensity general movement (2–3 minutes)
- Add dynamic stretching that mirrors the session's technical pattern
- Introduce the ball early to combine activation with skill repetition
- Build to game-pace movements in the final 2 minutes
Coaching focus
- Hold body shape — head up, light steps, soft knees
- Quality of first touch under fatigue
- Communication and scanning between players
