PlayerPulse, Inc. ("us", "we", or "our") operates the PlayerPulse apps for iOS and Android and the PlayerPulse web app (together, the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information when you use our Service. The Service collects health data about the athlete using it, and reads health data from Apple Health or Health Connect when the athlete connects one — see "Health and Wellness Data" below. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
We use your Personal Information for providing and improving the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions.
Information Collection And Use
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your email address, name, phone number ("Personal Information"). We collect this information for the purpose of providing the Service, identifying and communicating with you, responding to your requests/inquiries, servicing your purchase orders, and improving our services.
When you access the Service by or through a mobile device, we may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use and other statistics ("Log Data").
Health and Wellness Data
PlayerPulse is an athlete wellness and availability product, so the Service accesses and collects health data about the athlete using it. This section describes what health data we access and collect, what we use it for, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted. It applies to the PlayerPulse apps for iOS and Android and to the PlayerPulse web app.
Health data you enter yourself
An athlete — or, where an account is managed for them, their parent or guardian — enters the following in the app:
- Daily check-in: mood, sleep quality, energy, stress, muscle soreness and which body areas are sore, symptoms, menstrual cycle status, resting heart rate, and an optional free-text comment.
- Session feedback: how hard a training session or match felt (rate of perceived exertion), a performance rating, and an optional comment.
- Availability: whether the athlete can train or play, and the reason when they cannot.
- Injuries: injury type, body area and body part, side, mechanism, the date it occurred, current status, whether it is a recurrence, a description, and an expected return date.
- Onboarding questionnaire: typical sleep, energy, soreness and stress, and any injury currently stopping the athlete from playing.
- Athlete profile: date of birth, gender as the athlete gives it, and height.
Health data we read from Apple Health and Health Connect
An athlete can choose to connect a health source. On iOS, PlayerPulse then reads data from Apple Health (HealthKit); on Android, from Health Connect. Connecting is optional, the athlete grants the permission in the operating system rather than to us, and the app works without it. We request read access to the following and to nothing else:
- Steps
- Active energy burned
- Heart rate
- Heart rate variability
- Sleep
- Workouts and exercise sessions
We do not write anything back to Apple Health or Health Connect. The data travels one way, from the health source into PlayerPulse. Readings from the window around a recorded session are uploaded to and stored on PlayerPulse servers, including the reading exactly as the health source supplied it, so that a later improvement to how we calculate training load can be applied to readings we already hold.
Limited use of health data
Health data — whether an athlete enters it in the app or we read it from Apple Health or Health Connect — is used only to provide the features described below. We do not:
- use it for advertising or marketing, or share it with any advertising network, advertising platform, data management platform or ad-tech provider;
- sell it, or share it with data brokers or information resellers;
- transfer it to anyone for determining credit-worthiness, or for insurance, employment, or eligibility for any of those; or
- use it for any purpose other than the ones set out in this section.
What we use health data for
- Producing the athlete's daily readiness score and the training-load figures behind it — acute load, chronic load, the ratio between them, and minutes trained over the last 7 and 28 days.
- Showing the athlete their own history and trends.
- Showing the athlete's coaching and support staff whether the athlete is available to train or play, and flagging a load spike or a recurring injury — within the permissions set on the athlete's account.
- Keeping an injury history, so that a recurrence is visible, and tracking an expected return date.
- Offering a session for the athlete to confirm when a connected health source has recorded a workout.
Our product analytics record that a screen was opened or that a check-in was submitted — never what was answered. Wellness answers, free-text notes and body-map selections are not sent to our analytics provider, and we do not record session replays or screen recordings anywhere in the app.
Who we share health data with
- The athlete's club or team and its coaching and support staff, where the athlete belongs to one, within the permissions set on the athlete's account. This sharing is the purpose of the product.
- Our service providers, who host and operate the Service on our behalf and may process health data only on our instructions and only to provide the Service.
- Nobody else. Health data held for one club never informs anything another club sees, and we do not otherwise share, sell or disclose it — except where we are required to by law, as described under “Compliance With Laws” below.
How long we keep health data, and how to delete it
- Health data is kept for as long as the athlete's account exists. There is no rolling deletion window: a long-run injury and load history is what the product is for.
- When an athlete asks for their account to be deleted, their health data — including the readings we hold exactly as a connected health source supplied them — is deleted within 30 days.
- An athlete can ask for deletion from inside the app, at playerpulseapp.com/delete-my-account, or by emailing [email protected].
- Disconnecting Apple Health or Health Connect stops any further reading immediately. An athlete can do that in PlayerPulse under Settings, Integrations, or in the Apple Health or Health Connect app itself. Readings already taken stay until the account is deleted.
